Vision & robotics · Industrial manufacturing
A relocatable inspection system that verifies multiple features without materially affecting the host machine’s cycle time.
The challenge
Seven product features needed to be verified before profile clamps left the factory. The inspection unit also had to move between production lines and integrate with existing machinery.
Adbro’s approach
Adbro used four compact cameras and a dedicated processing platform to inspect each component from multiple angles inside a portable machine enclosure.
The outcome
The manufacturer can redeploy the inspection system where it is needed while maintaining repeatable checks and protecting existing throughput.
Technical delivery
The detail below shows how the main equipment, software and interfaces were brought together—not just what the project achieved.
System scope
The cameras sit inside a blackout enclosure that removes ambient-light variation. A dedicated lighting controller supports multiple lighting configurations, including coloured illumination where it improves feature contrast.
An infeed jig locates the clamp before the conveyor moves it through the inspection zone. One camera is mounted on a linear slide so focal position can be adjusted for different product sizes.
The standalone machine runs alongside the host process: the operator loads a component and returns to the adjacent machine while inspection completes. A pass returns to the operator; a fail is routed to the reject area.
Inspection parameters are held in product recipes. Selection can be made locally from the HMI or passed from the connected production machine, supporting relocation between lines.
Verification & handover
Adbro carried out in-house proving before installation, then worked with the customer’s quality team during commissioning to set tolerances against the actual production environment and representative parts.
